LAPEL, Ind. — The errors were piling up for Wapahani, which was its Achilles heel all season. And what a terrible time for that to rear its ugly head, in the sectional championship game Monday against Monroe Central at Lapel.
It seemed all the Golden Bears had to do was put the ball in play, and this bunt in the fourth inning was so good that they didn't need an error. The bases were going to be loaded in a tie game, with no one out and the heart of Monroe Central's lineup coming up.
But then Brevan Rivers, the Wapahani workhorse who had just come on in relief, made arguably the two biggest plays of the season in the Raiders' 4-3 victory.
