AKRON, Ohio -- Michael VanDeventer and Johnny Watts finished among the top 10 to lead the Ball State men’s golf team at Akron’s Firestone Invitational.
The Cardinals closed the tournament Tuesday with a round of 295 to finish in seventh place as a team. BSU posted a total of 866 (+2) over three rounds on the North Course at Firestone Country Club.
Cincinnati (-14) finished atop the leaderboard by three strokes over Illinois State (-11). Akron (-8) took third in the field of 16 teams. Cincinnati’s Austin Squires was the individual medalist at 11 under par, finishing four shots clear of the field.
