KALAMAZOO, Mich. - - It was a solid day on the track for Ball State which had four student-athletes qualify for event finals on the second day of the 2017 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Western Michigan's Kanley Track & Field Complex.
The Cardinals' four event finalists are the most for the program since the 2009 squad had five individuals qualify for a total of seven event finals.
Ball State started Friday's competition strong, with freshman Brooke Talhelm earning one of 12 spots into the finals of the 1500m run with a career-fast clocking of 4:34.
