INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — For 13 weeks, the Yorktown Tigers fought like gladiators on the football field.

They scratched and clawed their way to a 9-4 record and the program's first sectional title in eight years, overcoming multiple dauting postseason deficits and an early-season injury to starting quarterback Mason Moulton.

Upset victories were earned, clutch plays were made, and a championship was cemented. But after Friday's 42-14 regional final loss at Class 3A No. 3 Bishop Chatard, Yorktown's young warriors released the passion and emotion that carried these bonded boys so far.

"Everyone's so emotional right now because they love each other," head coach Mike Wilhelm said.
