MUNCIE, Ind. -- After averaging nearly 25 points per game last week and joining an exclusive club, Ball State point guard Tayler Persons was named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week.
The senior from Kokomo, Indiana, helped the Cardinals to a split of two league road games, including a win Saturday at MAC West Division leader Central Michigan.
Persons went for 21 points in the CMU game, as the Cardinals dealt the Chippewas just their second home loss of the season. He surpassed 500 career assists in that game, becoming one of only three active Division I players in the country with at least 1,500 points and 500 assists.
