Ball State traveled to DeKalb, Illinois to face Northern Illinois in its Mid-American Conference opener and it proved to be a worthwhile journey. The Cardinals (2-3, 1-0 in MAC play) defeated the Huskies (1-4, 0-1) by seven points, 27-20. It’s the second-straight year Ball State has opened conference play with a victory and the first time since 2008 that BSU has defeated NIU.
