MUNCIE, Ind. — Scott Pethtel’s coaching career has taken him all over the country. From Michigan, to Indiana, to New York, to Georgia, Pethtel has spent his 41-year-career not only in a variety of places, but a variety of levels.
Through all that moving, Pethtel’s wife has never really concerned herself with where coaching takes them next. Until the job at Central came open.
“This time, she said, ‘Take that job,’” Pethtel said with a laugh.
Pethtel, who was named Central’s head football coach at a school board meeting Tuesday night, hasn’t lived in Muncie since 2002, when he left Ball State after 14 years for an assistant coaching job at Cincinnati with Rick Minter.
