JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. — Paoli's shot attempt to force a second overtime was blocked, and landed (fittingly) in the waiting arms of sophomore Maddie Lawrence.
Ever since Winchester lost in regional last year, Lawrence has worked on her game tirelessly. She will tell you about a wide open layup and four free throws that she missed in that game, which would've equaled the six points that separated Winchester and Covenant Christian.
She has been in the gym almost every day since. And on Saturday, she got her redemption.
Lawrence poured in 24 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Winchester to a 49-47 overtime win over Paoli in the semistate at Jeffersonville on Saturday.
