MUNCIE, Ind.- - Thanks to a two-out, first-inning RBI double from freshman second baseman Amaia Daniel, the Ball State softball team struck first in Friday's Mid-American Conference series opener versus Bowling Green at the Softball Field at First Merchants Ballpark Complex.
Unfortunately, the Cardinals (26-12; 4-2 MAC) could not hold onto the lead as the Falcons (14-19; 2-6 MAC) struck for four runs in the top of the second and held on for a 4-1 victory.
Ball State rallied behind a couple solid defensive plays in the top of the first inning, as senior catcher Olivia Huffman threw out a runner trying to steal for the second out, while junior outfielder Haley Dominique made a great catch in left field to end the inning.
