Softball Drops MAC Championship Opener to Kent State

AKRON, Ohio – Trailing by three with bases loaded and no outs in the top of the sixth, the Ball State softball team could not produce a clutch hit in a 4-1 loss to Kent State Wednesday morning in Mid-American Conference Championship action at historic Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.

With the loss, the fifth-seeded Cardinals (30-27) will play in Thursday's 10:30 a.m. elimination game versus top-seeded Central Michigan who suffered a 3-1 loss to No. 8 Western Michigan Wednesday afternoon.

In Wednesday's loss to the Golden Flashes (28-25), the Cardinals were only able to record one hit, a fifth inning single from freshman right fielder Kennedy Wynn (New Albany, Ind.
