MIAMI, Fla. - - Freshman pitcher Deborah Jones turned in another outstanding performance to help the Ball State softball team close spring break with a 2-0 win over Samford Sunday morning at FIU's Felsberg Field.
In picking up her second complete game shutout of the season, Jones helped the Cardinals (18-9) avenge Saturday's loss to the Bulldogs (9-14) by limiting them to just two hits over her seven innings of work. She also struck out six batters in the game, including the first and last batters she faced.
On offense, junior left fielder Katie Janiga provided all the run support Jones would need with an RBI single to left-center field in the bottom of the second inning.
