For a man with seemingly untouchable accolades, Steve Shondell felt a little humbled.
On Sunday evening, he was inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame in Providence, Rhode Island.
Their names an accolades were big, as Shondell stood by them onstage. One was former New York Yankees second baseman Bobby Richardson, who won three World Series titles.
Another was wrestling coach Russ Cozart, who helped spearhead the Brandon (Florida) High School team to a high school-record 459 straight dual meet victories. His overall record is 647-6.
"You walk in there thinking you've had a pretty successful career, and then you see everything everyone else has done," Shondell said.
