Two Ball State juniors swept this week's Mid-American Conference West Division Player and Pitcher of the Week awards.
Right-handed pitcher Zach Plesac earned the Pitcher of the Week award after throwing a two-hit complete game shutout March 26 against a Miami (Ohio) squad that averaged 6.7 runs per game entering the series.
Plesac (2-1, 3.03 ERA) racked up 11 strikeouts without giving up a walk in the 9-0 win.
Alex Maloney, the Cardinals' starting shortstop, earned the Player of the Week award after hitting .438 with five runs scored. Against Purdue on March 22, he was 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored.
