MUNCIE, Ind. — Thursday night was the first time Helen Beach was able to play in a state tournament match.
The senior defensive specialist has played varsity volleyball at Muncie Burris ever since she was a freshman but, each of her first three seasons, Beach was forced to sit out of the sectional. Her freshman and sophomore year, it was a pair of knee surgeries that kept her sidelined. Last year, it was a car crash late in the season that left her concussed and unable to play.
During the first round of Sectional 23 at Delta, following a regular season riddled with uncertainty due to COVID-19, Beach was out on the court.
