MUNCIE, Ind. — Dominant. Historic. Once-in-a-lifetime.
Perfect.
All very powerful words, but descriptions that can not be argued with this Yorktown team. When you consider some of the greatest seasons in IHSAA volleyball history, that list is no longer valid without the 2018 Tigers.
Yorktown swept defending champion Avon 25-16, 25-22, 25-21 for the Class 4A state championship on Saturday at Worthen Arena. The Tigers are just the 14th team to finish a season unbeaten since the state tournament was put in place in 1972. They are the first to move up from 3A to 4A because of the tournament success factor and win a state title.
