Mickey Pearson Jr., has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Pearson Jr., posted a season-best 21 points, including the 1,000th of his career, in Ball State's 77-76 win over Southern Miss on Saturday in the MAC-SBC Challenge. The forward added five rebounds, with one in the first half being the 500th of his Ball State career, while going 7-for-12 from the field (3-for-6 from distance) and 4-for-4 on free throws in the Cardinals' win. Pearson Jr., scored 19 of those points in the second half after Ball State trailed 37-35 at halftime, with a layup with five minutes to play in the game putting him at the 1,000-point mark for his collegiate career and giving the Cardinals a 63-58 lead.
