Ball State’s men’s basketball coach wants a Mid-American Conference title and a spot in the NCAA Tournament. Both objectives, if accomplished, would be firsts for a Whitford-led team since he arrived in Muncie. And in a letter published online Sept. 23, one day before the Cardinals’ first official practice, the seventh-year head coach even went as far as to call his team the deepest he’s coached at Ball State “by a significant margin.
