MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State baseball's largest home crowd of the season gathered Saturday afternoon hoping their team would clinch its first NCAA tournament appearance since 2006.
They instead witnessed one of the Cardinals' sloppiest games of the season, a 12-3 loss to Central Michigan marred by a season-high six errors and nine walks at Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex.
The MAC regular-season champions earned a mulligan, however, having not previously lost this postseason. The rematch at noon Sunday will be a win-or-go-home bout.
