DALEVILLE, Ind. — Down 15-1 at home on a chilly cloudy evening, a groundout to the opposing pitcher typically isn't cheered.
Daleville softball, however, was happy to be playing at all. The Broncos on Wednesday finally began their season, a month after the IHSAA official start date. The players, coaches, parents and fans showed nothing but support despite the run-rule loss to Centerville, knowing the program nearly folded in early April.
"This year we're pretty much just focusing on being happy," head coach Jeremy Pattengale said. "We've had a big talk, so they know how it's going to go .
