NIL era: What Ball State athletes are able to do regarding name, image and likeness

MUNCIE, Ind. — As Beth Goetz reflected on her extension last week, one aimed to keep her as Ball State’s athletic director for some time, she remained fixated on the future.

How did she answer a question regarding how she celebrated the finalization of her extension? She said she was on to the next task, referenced the fiscal year, brought up name, image and likeness (NIL) and more. She said “we’re just not going to be satisfied with the success we’ve had,” and that they want to keep building upon it.

A BSU Athletics release in June said “in the battle for the Reese Trophy, which honors the top men's athletic program in the MAC, the Cardinals placed third among the league’s 12 schools for its best finish since taking second in 2013.
