YORKTOWN, Ind. — Delta baseball has yet to take advantage of its winning opportunities.
The Eagles, adapting to new head coach Devin Wilburn and the loss of seven seniors from last year, could be 2-1 instead of 0-3. They nearly mounted a seventh-inning comeback in their season-opening 10-9 loss to Greenwood despite leaving 30 runners on base, and never seized control in a 4-2 loss at Yorktown while gaining some late momentum.
Coming off a 6-18 2021 season in which Delta went 0-14 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference, this start can seem like the same old story.
