MUNCIE, Ind. — The IHSAA on Monday announced new classifications in the sports of basketball, football, soccer, and volleyball for the next two school years.
These changes, determined by the latest enrollment figures totaling boys and girls in grades 9u201012, affect several East Central Indiana schools. There are also instances of teams moving up to or staying in a higher class due to the "tournament success factor."
In boys and girls basketball, Muncie Burris moves down to 2A, and Wes-Del moves up to 2A.
In volleyball, Yorktown remains in 4A (success factor), New Castle moves down to 3A, Wapahani and Muncie Burris move down to 2A, Wes-Del moves up to 2A and Cowan moves down to 1A.
