MUNCIE, Ind. — When the position of New Castle’s head volleyball coach became available again, athletic director Benjamin Wissel started making calls.
Wissel wanted to try to find the best possible fit with the program. He wanted to find someone who’d stick with the program for multiple years, who’d provide some stability, given the turnover that’s occurred at the position in recent years. And as he talked to different members of the volleyball community in the area, with “four months of work” put in as Wissel described it, Victoria Pierson’s name emerged as a candidate.
In Pierson, Wissel saw someone who’d devote their time to developing athletes at more than just the high school level.
