MARION, Ind. — It certainly wasn't easy, but New Castle held on.
New Castle held off a late run from regional host Marion to win 77-70 and advance to next weekend's semistate. It was the first regional championship for the Class 3A top-ranked Trojans since they won their last state title in 2006.
"It feels pretty sweet," head coach Daniel Cox said. "I think it makes it a little sweeter because of the program. And what these guys have put in this year and the kind of year they're having. For them to do something like this on an opponent's home floor, it speaks volumes.
