YORKTOWN, Ind. — During New Castle's practice round at The Players Club, Derek Tabor told head coach John Burdsall that both he and Dillon Bergum were going to qualify for state.
The next day, the two juniors did just that.
During Thursday's Muncie Central regional, Bergum shot a 2-under-par 70, good for a fourth-place finish, while Tabor shot an even-par 72, which tied him for fifth overall and fourth among individuals who advanced without a team.
After the regional, which Hamilton Southeastern won with a 296, Burdsall seemed less than surprised the duo was moving on.
