LOS ANGELES — Ball State's dream men's volleyball season is over.
The Cardinals lost a five-set heartbreaker in the semifinal round of the men's National Collegiate volleyball tournament to Hawai'i (28-26, 19-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-11).
Ball State held a 2-1 lead heading into the fourth set but Hawai'i jumped out to a pair of strong starts in both the fourth and fifth set. The Cardinals fell to 0-16 all-time in the national semifinal and just short of their first national championship in program history.
Ball State outhit (.262-.241) and outblocked (16-9) Hawai'i. The Rainbow Warriors recorded 51 digs compared to the Cardinals' 39.
