Jaden Ivey, the Purdue All-American and All-Big Ten player from South Bend, was selected No. 5 by the Detroit Pistons in Thursday night's 2022 NBA Draft.
Ivey was considered a small notch below the consensus top three hopefuls — Auburn's Jabari Smith, Duke's Paolo Banchero and Gonzaga's Chet Holmgren — since the end of the college season. Keegan Murray of Iowa was selected fourth by the Sacramento Kings.
The 6-4 guard averaged 17.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game as a sophomore in 2021-22, leading the Boilermakers to the Sweet 16 and consistently providing electrifying drives to the basket.
