MUNCIE — Just one season after transferring to Ball State, junior point guard Naiel Smith is again looking for a better fit. The school announced Smith's decision to transfer Friday afternoon.
“I want to thank my coaches and teammates for everything they have done for me,” Smith said in a press release. “It was a great year here. Ball State is headed in the right direction. It’s just not the place for me."
He played in all 35 games for Ball State last year, starting the first 18 at point guard. Much like Jeremiah Davis, who is transferring for his sixth season, Smith found himself in a significantly smaller role after sophomore Francis Kiapway moved to the point guard spot.
