SELMA, Ind. — Friday's rain wasn't ideal baseball conditions, but Muncie's American Legion Post 19 Chiefs didn't seem to mind.
The boys had a doubleheader against Madison in its Region 4 playoff, winning 13-0 and 13-8 to advance to the state tournament. The team cruised for most of the afternoon, playing loose and with joy despite the weather.
Madison's six-run sixth inning in Game 2 threatened the Chiefs, yet they quickly went from playful to serious and clinched the sweep to avoid a rubber match on Saturday. Not much was said to stop the skid as the roster is comprised of the area's top talent, and they quickly put the game away.
