Darrick Lee almost didn’t apply.
The open position for Muncie Central's varsity head football coach represented everything he ever wanted. He had coached at Central in various capacities the past five years, including defensive coordinator in 2018, and would have the opportunity to mentor students he met when he first moved to Muncie. This was his dream.
But Lee wasn’t sure he fit the mold of what Central wanted. He wasn’t the experienced head coach he understood they might be searching for. So hesitated.
And then he thought, if not now, when?
