MUNCIE, Ind. — There's always a certain level of expectation when it comes to playing volleyball at Muncie Burris.
Second-year Owls head coach Jim Craig knows that, as do his players. After all, Burris historically has been the most dominant volleyball program in the state. Its 22 state titles are more than double Marquette Catholic's, which is second all-time with nine.
Coming into this season, however, Craig isn't worried about the postseason. Not yet, anyway. Burris, while it's continued to win at a high level in recent seasons, hasn't been won a sectional title since 2014. Since then, it's been been eliminated from the state tournament by the eventual state champion or state runner-up in five out of the past six seasons.
