MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie Central football hasn't had a winning season since 2016-17.
Once the victors of three consecutive IHSAA sectionals (2002-04) and four in five years, the Bearcats have devolved into a program that went 0-10, 2-5 and 1-9 in the last three seasons.
There's been some talent, like new all-time leading rusher and Ball State University commit Shoka Griffin and Indiana North/South All-Star Woodrow Elliot II, but something is missing.
Muncie Central hopes new head coach Kyle Padgett is the answer.
"Change the culture, get commitment and buy-in, not just from the kids but from the community," Padgett said of his approach.
