'Most fun I've had': Pruitt's no-hitter leads Chiefs to 3rd American Legion state title

KOKOMO, Ind. — The ball left Jacob Pruitt's hand 100 times, each instance effortlessly building toward history.

The innings flew by, as baseballs often did past Terre Haute batters and into Luke Willmann's catcher's mitt. Casually and happily, Pruitt notched a no-hitter, the first in an Indiana American Legion championship game since 1975.

The Muncie Post 19 Chiefs' four runs on Saturday proved plenty as Pruitt's 13th strikeout secured the team's third ever state title (1990, 2008). His teammates rushed the Highland Park mound, swarming the ace before dousing head coach Ken Zvokel with a Gatorade jug filled with ice water.
