Monroe Central's freshman QB is growing up on the fly

UNION CITY, Ind. — When he was in the third grade, Jackson Ullom filled out a paper that asked him to list his goals. He wrote, "Play varsity football as a freshman" and hung it up above his bed.

Ullom didn't write "throw for 1,570 yards and 14 touchdowns," but he could've. He didn't write "win a sectional championship," but he could've.

He simply wanted to play. Six years and 12 games later, Ullom has shown he's very capable of that.

Ullom took hold of Monroe Central's starting quarterback job the second week of the season and hasn't let go.
