ELWOOD, Ind. — When Justin Ullom emerged from the locker room following Monroe Central's 86-74 loss against Frankton, he shrugged and curled up his lip.
The Golden Bears played hard against an Eagles team that has won three out of the last five sectional championships and advanced to the Class 2A semistate in 2019. Monroe Central had scored one of its highest point totals of the season, which included a 28-point fourth quarter. On Wednesday night during the first round of the Elwood sectional, however, it just wasn't enough.
"Right now, it's frustrating we let this one get away because we were certainly in the discussion here this week," said Justin Ullom, who had just finished his seventh season coaching Monroe Central.
