Throughout Major League Baseball's First-Year Player Draft, Cole Barr was just trying to pass the time.
Barr, an Indiana University product from Yorktown, Indiana, admitted that it's stressful waiting for your name to be called, although he fully expected his to be. In 2019, Barr was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 37th round.
On the morning of Tuesday, July 13, the final day of the 2021 MLB Draft, Barr was working out when he received a phone call. Coincidentally enough, it was from the Mariners.

"It was kind of a surprise because, until that day three, I hadn’t really talked to them until an hour or so before they picked me.
