MUNCIE, Ind. — Every Saturday afternoon in the fall, Mike Neu raced to the television in his home on the south side of Indianapolis. The goal was always to beat his siblings so he could pick what they would watch. His choice? Notre Dame football.
Neu, now in his third season as Ball State’s head coach, sought to differentiate himself from his father and his brothers, each of whom excelled at basketball and baseball.
That led Neu to football, and naturally, Notre Dame. Growing up in the 1980’s, there weren’t a full slate of games on TV all day Saturday like there are today.
