The Mid-American Conference joined conferences at other levels of collegiate athletics Saturday as it announced, due to COVID-19 concerns, that it would be postponing all fall contests and its conference championships.
MAC commissioner Jon Steinbrecher said the presidents of the member institutions voted unanimously to make this decision in an effort to protect the health of athletes and others. The decision affects Ball State's women's cross country, field hockey, women's soccer, women's volleyball and football teams. No decision has been made yet for the MAC's winter sports.
And Steinbrecher said he's certain when people look back on 2020 for college sports, they'll remember it as "a horrible year.
