The 11th-ranked Ball State Cardinals (20-9, 12-4 MIVA) were knocked out of the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association quarterfinals April 16 by the McKendree Bearcats (11-13, 5-11 MIVA).
Ball State, seeded third in the MIVA tournament, beat the sixth-seeded McKendree in both regular season matchups but lost in three straight sets in the quarterfinals, 25-18, 25-23, 25-23.
Head coach Joel Walton said being eliminated from the tournament was "a bitter pill."
“We didn’t fight, we didn’t dig down and find some way to get things done," Walton said. "So we opened up a door and they were good enough tonight to walk through that.
