AKRON, Ohio -- Led by Johnny Watts in second place, the Ball State men’s golf team turned in its lowest two rounds of the season Monday to open Akron’s Firestone Invitational.
The Cardinals started with a round of 281, their lowest since the 2013 NCAA Regional, and followed with a 290 in the afternoon. Ball State spent some time at the top of the leaderboard and ended the day tied for sixth place at 5 under par.
Illinois State (-14) holds the lead, while Akron (-12) is second. Cincinnati (-9) and Dayton (-9) are tied for third, while Eastern Michigan (-8) is one spot above Ball State in fifth.
