MUNCIE, Ind. - Junior Jenna McKune found the back of the cage in the final minutes of action for the Cardinals, pushing Ball State past Appalachian State for the 1-0 victory Friday afternoon at the Briner Sports Complex.
With the win, Ball State improves to 5-12 on the season and 3-3 in Mid-American Conference action while Appalachian State falls to 9-8 overall and 1-5 in league play.
It was a defensive battle for 59 minutes of action. Both teams struggled offensively despite 10 shot opportunities from the Cardinals and 12 from the Mountaineers. Some key saves from the Ball State goalies, senior Alison McMullen and freshman Wietske Overdijkink helped keep Appalachian State scoreless.
