CLEVELAND - Throwing 6 shutout innings on the road has earned Chayce McDermott a MAC Pitcher of the Week award. It's the first collegiate award for the redshirt freshman, who led Ball State to a 10-0 win at Central Michigan on Sunday.
Sunday's Ball State win was important because Central Michigan had won Friday and Saturday over the Cardinals. And McDermott answered the bell, pitching 6 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts. He allowed just 4 hits and left the game with the Cards leading 9-0. He also pitched Monday, April 1 in a home win, working 3 innings and allowing a single hit.
