MUNCIE, Ind. — As Matt Crenshaw reflected in April, a little more than a week after being named IUPUI’s men’s basketball head coach, he opened up about why he doesn’t think he would be in that position without Ball State.
Crenshaw, who played for IUPUI in college and later coached there as an assistant for more than a decade, felt there were some who were never able to separate “Matt … the player” from who he’d become. Even though Crenshaw's tenure as a player and coach spanned three head coaches in Ron Hunter, Todd Howard and Jason Gardner, that feeling didn’t dissipate.
