MUNCIE — For the players on Ball State’s bench, the best play in the win over Chicago State was the last one.
Before 5-foot-8 point guard Kaleb Mallory ditched his defender with a quick spin move, all his teammates were yelling at him. They were begging him to deliver, and he did. Mallory dropped a dime to center Nate Wells who dunked to score the final points in Ball State’s 73-48 victory.
The crowd erupted. The bench did, too.
“It was fun (to watch) because he be killing us in practice,” said sophomore Francis Kiapway.
“That was the best play of the game, right there,” chipped in starting point guard Naiel Smith.
