WINCHESTER, Ind. — When Holly Gutierrez took over the Winchester girls basketball program prior to the 2015-16 season, she said it was in the ground. The Golden Falcons were a combined 6-36 the two seasons before Gutierrez' arrival and at the time, the former Northeastern and Pendleton Heights head coach said she had never heard of Maddie Lawrence.
Fast forward just five seasons later, and every basketball fan in Randolph County will know the name of a girl in a No. 2 Winchester jersey who transformed a program and broke records in the process.
