NEW CASTLE, Ind. — Outside of holiday tournaments, there is only one other day a year when Indiana high school boys basketball teams play two games on the same day; that's during the regional stage of the state basketball tournament.
Following the consolation game of the Raymond James Hall of Fame Classic, both Blackford coach Grant Newlin and senior Luke Brown had that future date on their minds.
While Wednesday didn't play out the way the Class 2A No. 2-ranked Bruins would've liked, the result hasn't deterred them from their eventual goal of reaching the regional and playing back-to-back games in mid-March to secure a spot in the semistate round of the boys basketball tournament.
