MUNCIE, Ind. — A procedure on Purdue basketball commit Mason Gillis' right knee has rendered his senior season — one in which he was expected to be a legitimate contender for Mr. Basketball — unclear for the time being.
New Castle athletic director Shane Osting confirmed to The Star Press that Gillis did in fact have a medical procedure done on his right knee. He did not elaborate, however, on what that procedure entailed or the timetable for Gillis' eventual return.
The Star Press has been working to confirm that Gillis had the procedure and seeking an update his status for weeks.
