About six weeks before classes started in the fall semester, redshirt junior Kevin Marnon was playing summer ball with the Wilson Tobs of the Coastal Plains League. He was pitching in North Carolina so he would be ready to join the starting rotation in the spring – for the University of Akron.
While he was in Wilson, however, he received an e-mail from the Akron athletic department.
The baseball program was shutting down.
“Honestly, it didn’t really hit me until I got [to Ball State],” Marnon said.
