INDIANAPOLIS -- A doctor sent John Andretti a text the other day. Not Andretti’s doctor, just a doctor who knew him. He wanted to let Andretti know that a patient had just called to schedule an appointment for a colonoscopy.
“The doctor told me the guy said, ‘The only reason I’m doing this is because of John.’ … And just knowing one person is doing it makes this worth it.”
But it’s not one just person. Not even close.
In the days since the former IndyCar and NASCAR driver revealed that he is fighting Stage 4 colon cancer, he has been flooded with messages like those delivered by the doctor.
