Brian McEvoy knows what it’s like to lose a sectional by 0.2 points.
He knows what it’s like to watch a nemesis win girls track and field sectional after girls track and field sectional as an event here, an event there, holds his team back. He knows what it’s like to have teams capable of winning a sectional finish in second or third.
That wasn’t what Jay County’s girls track and field coach was feeling Tuesday night, not even close.
“We just finally had our stuff together across the board,” McEvoy said. “We always talk about, ‘have no weak links,’ and those weak links hurt us pretty bad the last four or five years and Yorktown’s made us pay for it.
